Sandy Bridge is the next generation of Intel Core CPU architecture based on 32nm production process. The upcoming chips will be the first to support Intel Advanced Vector Extension (AVX) instructions for faster floating point intensive computation in general purpose applications like image, video, and audio processing, as well as engineering applications. The processors will feature Intel’s sixth-generation graphics core.
