India : National Fashion Awards in Mumbai next year

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), India’s apex fashion body announced that it will host the country’s first-ever National Fashion Awards in Mumbai next year.

Endorsing its commitment to the industry, the FDCI has ensured that the Awards will span the Indian fashion platform in its entirety – from students to professionals including both members and non-members of the FDCI.

This is another ‘first’ by the FDCI, after it launched the India Fashion Week seven years ago and then introduced the first ever Spring-Summer edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week last year, along with a number of other new initiatives.

Announcing the FDCI Fashion Awards, Rathi Vinay Jha, Director General, FDCI, said “The FDCI being India’s apex fashion body, constantly works towards fostering the growth of the fashion industry.

The Fashion Awards are another step in this direction. We have provided our stakeholders with an opportunity to showcase their creativity at the India Fashion Week.

It is now time to reward deserving individuals for their contribution to Indian fashion. The FDCI Board is delighted to announce India’s first Fashion Awards, which will recognise both eminent as well as emerging talent.”

Along with established designers, these awards will also recognize and reward upcoming designers and the allied fashion fraternity, which includes models, fashion photographers, choreographers, make-up artists etc.

The key differentiator of the FDCI Fashion Awards is that this is the first Awards Ceremony in India to recognise eminent and emerging talent at the national level.

360 Degrees has been appointed as the official event managers and Ernst & Young are the official tabulators for these awards.

A.P. Parigi, MD ENIL & Director BCCL, 360 Degrees, said “We are delighted to partner the FDCI as event managers for India’s first national fashion awards.

360 degrees is renowned for having managed and marketed some of India’s biggest events. I am certain that this partnership will help to take this event to great heights.”
