Australia : THE CUTTING EDGE by Fashion Group

Friday the 16th of November from 9am, Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) will present ‘200 years of Australian Merino wool innovations’, as part of THE CUTTING EDGE – the annual event hosted by Fashion Group International (FGI).

In 2007 the Australian wool industry has been pleased to commemorate 200 years of trade – joining with groups such as the FGI provides an avenue for AWI to tell the story of 200 years of history, and to discuss the plans and opportunities for the next 200 years in relation to the world’s most versatile natural fibre – Australian Merino wool.

International guest, Andreina Longhi, Director of Attila and Co will discuss the opportunities for Australian merino wool in the European apparel markets, and present the protégé project – a project which sees top international designers select a protégé who will produce a collection based on Australian Merino wool to showcase in Florence, Italy.

Designers include:
• Karl Lagerfeld
• Donatella Versace
• Francisco Costa- Calvin Klein
• Paul Smith
• Franca Sozzani (Vogue Italia)

Mr Jimmy Jackson, Global Product Development Manager at AWI will present the latest in Merino wool innovations: Merino Soft, Merino Care, and Merino Visual.

The session will feature designs from innovative Australian designers Jayson Brunsdon, Akira Isogawa, and Tina Kalivas, and international designers including Giovani Cavagna from Italy and Giles Deacon from the United Kingdom.
