Akif Mahmood's collection Kolors of Kafiristan refers to the traditions found in Kalash. The vibrant thread used to embellish the outfits spoke of the craft indigenous to the area of Kalash with the additional use of pom poms and ribbon. Even the layers of bright beading that is seen on the women of that area was replicated as a bodice. The bright trim on the fabric was highlighted by the black cotton that it was stitched on adding to the affect in the brightness of the colors. Akif successfully created a wave of excitement as a new talent which is what the fashion industry looks for.
