Christina Hendricks in London Fog Campaign

In a campaign that surely Don Draper would be proud of, the advertising team over at London Fog have made a smart move and hired Mad Men star Christina Hendricks as the face for their fall 2010 line. London Fog is one of the many real life companies that has appeared in Mad Men, featuring in the season three premiere 'Out of Town', in which British character Lane Pryce is somewhat dismissive of the brands title: "There is no fog in London. There is no London fog. Never was. It was the coal dust from the industrial era. Charles Dickens and whatnot."  Hendricks, however, speaks very highly of the brand:

London Fog is a classic brand, which I love. It also ties in to Mad Men, we used London Fog in the show and this is a nice way to tie everything together. The trench is such an iconic shape for men and women. It works for anyone - it worked in the 1960s and it works now.

Previous models for the brand have included super model Gisele Bundchen and Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria.  The choice of Hendricks, who in these pictures appears to be evoking her on screen character Joan, seems to be a wise one by the 87 year old company. I wonder whether we will see further external advertising from other products that are featured in Mad Menusing actors from the show, though I think it can be safe to say that John Deere will not be one of them.
